I really get annoyed when a creative blogger goes on forever before revealing the promised information so here it is...right up front and long over due!
The details are simple and to the point. If you are exactly a beginner knitter you'll still probably get this with ease. If not you all know where to find me.
Mini Sweater Ornament Pattern
Set of Size 2 double pointed needles
Fingering or Sock yarn
Stitch Holders
Starting at the neck...
CO 20 sts
Join in rnd and k2, p2 rib pattern over 4 rnds
Begin inc rnds next...to form shoulders
Split across 4 needles and knit 1 rnd as 3 (needle 1), 7 (needle 2), 3 (needle 3), 7 (needle 4)
*K1, inc (by picking up bar between sts), k to 1 st before end of needle, inc, k1, * repeat for each needle to complete rnd.
Next rnd: knit even.
Next rnd: repeat inc rnd
Repeat these last two rnds till sts space as 9 (needle 1), 13 (needle 2), 9 (needle 3), 13 (needle 4)
Slip & hold 9 sts (from needle 1) onto st holder, co 3 sts, join to needle two and k across 13 sts, slip & hold next 9 sts (from needle 3) onto holder, co 3 sts, join to needle 4 and k last 13 sts.
Knit in rnd for 13 rnds.
At this point if sts don't add up to multiples of 4 don't fret just adjust by evenly decreasing the amount necessary through the next rnd.
Bind off and weave in yarn end.
ARMS
Pick up 9 held sts; 5 (on needle 2), 4 (on needle 3) and pick up 3 co sts (on needle 1) joining in rnd (needle 1 with co sts is the rnd beginning)
Knit 13 rnds even.
Work previous rib pattern for two rnds
Bind off and weave in ends.
Repeat for second arm.
Be sure to tuck in all loose ends.
I just tied a piece of twine for treeing handing but really wanted to use little metal hangers. If you could find them they would be so cute.
Now as all designer of any trade I request that this pattern be used only for the pleasure of gifting! I trust that you will respect my wishes here. Thank you and do enjoy! I know your recipients will.
