Bulky Blue Cowl

Hope you all are avoiding the flu season. unfortunately I was taken, thrown down and trampled upon. Or so it seemed. I should post a "tips on dealing with the flu" section. I would not have survived without the Internet at my fingertips. Whenever I had a question but didn't want to call the doctor just in case it was a stupid question ( I know there's no such thing as a stupid question!) or because I knew they would just say you need to make an appointment, I would google my symptoms and actually learned a lot. But of course I made certain they were reputable sites.

Here's a little information on a bulky cowl I've been working on. I used Bernat Roving. It has a warm natural feel to it. 80% acrylic and 20% wool. Took it for a test drive this cold morning and its a keeper. I made two sizes cause I'm still trying to find the perfect number of cast on's for cowls. And of course being bulky yarn, which I rarely knit with, the gauge will still be off. Oh well it was fun and I'm pleased with the results.

Bulky Blue Cowl Pattern
bulky blue cowl

(The raw basics)

Size 8 circular needles
Bernat Roving - cobalt

Pattern worked in multiples of 5.

Co 60 or 70 sts
Join in rnd and work in rib pattern till measures 12-13 inches

Rib Pattern
Knit 2, Purl 3

Bind off and tuck in the ends. Be sure no end show on the inside in case you choose to fold it over as like a turtle neck.

By the way...I like both sizes. Depends on if you need close or closer warmth. I assume with wear and time they will even stretch a bit.

That's it. Hope you enjoy. The best part now is you can tweak it to suit your fancy.
